Taihao mausoleum, which is the mausoleum of Fu Taihao who ranks first in “the Three Emperors”, is located in the ancient capital of Fu Xi in Huaiyang County of Henan Province and is also adjacent to the Dragon Lake which covers more than ten thousand kilometers. It is the national AAAA level scenic spot, national cultural heritage and one of the eighteen well-known mausoleums in China. Because Fu Xi ranks first in “the Three Emperors”, his mausoleum is known as the first tomb in the world as well as the birthplace of dragon totem.

    Taihao mausoleum covers an area of 875 acres, which is large-scaled and solemn. It was founded in the spring and autumn period, flourished in Tang Dynasty, and perfected in the Ming and Qing Dynasty with the history for more than 3,000 years. The emperors held the memorial ceremony for 52 times. Furthermore, the member of communist party and state leaders have so far personally wrote an inscription for memory.

    Taihao mausoleum is constructed according to the mathematical physics of congenital Eight Trigrams, which is the special case of ancient large-scaled palaces of Chinese emperors. It is divided in three imperial cities of outer City, inner city and the Forbidden City. There are three palaces, two buildings, two corridors, two squares, a platform, an altar, a pavilion, a shrine, a hall, a park, Seven Temples and sixteen doors. The main attractions in the scenic spot include a series of buildings along the central axis—Wu Chao Gate, Dao Yi Gate, Xian Tian Gate, Tai Ji Gate, Tong Tian Temple, Xian Ren Temple, Tai Shi Gate, the Eight Diagram Altar, Taihao mausoleum and milfoil park constitute the main places of interests. Dozens of buildings are mainly along the vertical axis in north-south direction. If we open the north-south direction gate layer by layer, you could see the large Taihao mausoleum in the Forbidden City known as “Ten gates shrine together” from the first door in north direction. The subsidiary attractions include Du Xiu Park (pruning Park), Forest of Stone Tablets, Xi Si Temple, Yue Zhong Wu Temple, Tong Gen Park and museum.

    The worship activities of human ancestor are eternal for thousand of years. From February Second to March third in lunar calendar, millions of people around the world flock to Taihao mausoleum in Huaiyang County to go on a pilgrimage to Fu Xi. On the first day or fifteen day of Lunar month, there are magnificent ritual activities with hundreds of thousands of visitors daily. Shanghai World Guinness Headquarter listed it as “the mausoleum that most people pilgrimage daily” in Guinness World Records, Taihao mausoleum becomes the largest and oldest Chinese folk mausoleum. The ritual ceremony of Taihao people has listed in the national intangible cultural heritage.
